How they did it

A fuzzy model computes mutation probability from a particle’s distance to the population centroid and its improvement. This operator is integrated into the Gravitational Particle Swarm (GPS) and PSOGSA hybrids, creating MGPS and MPSOGSA. The algorithms are then tested on benchmark functions and engineering design cases.

What they found

MGPS outperforms its ancestor GPS on 13 of 23 benchmarks (56.52%).
MPSOGSA outperforms its ancestor PSOGSA on 17 of 23 benchmarks (73.91%).
Both algorithms achieve competitive or superior results compared to SCA, Opposition‑Based SCA, and Volleyball Premier League Algorithm.
