The paper links multi‑user distributed computing to compressed sensing, showing tractable ℓ1 methods can achieve optimal computation‑cost bounds.
What’s new
How they did it
The authors first map the distributed computing task to a matrix factorization problem and then to a basic sparse recovery problem. They design a probabilistic scheme for assigning subfunctions to servers and derive analytical bounds on the normalized computation cost. Finally, they connect these bounds to tractable ℓ1‑minimization (Basis Pursuit) using properties of the Lambert W function.
