Cyber-physical systems (CPSs), which combine computer science, control systems, and physical elements, have become essential in modern industrial and societal contexts. However, their extensive integration presents increasing security challenges, particularly due to recurring cyber attacks. Therefore, it is crucial to…

This paper considers the state estimation problem of intelligent connected vehicle systems under the false data injection attack in wireless monitoring networks. We propose a new secure state estimation method to reconstruct the motion states of the connected vehicles equipped with cooperative adaptive cruise control…

— In this paper a new class of cyber attacks against state estimation in the electric power grid is considered. This class of attacks is named false data injection attacks. We show that with the knowledge of the system configuration an attacker could successfully inject false data into certain state variable while…

'Luiz F. R. da C. Carmo'] The benefits of using Networked Control Systems (NCS) in the growing Industry 4.0 are numerous, including better management and operational capabilities, as well as costs reduction. However, despite these benefits, the use of NCSs can also expose physical plants to new threats originated in…

—In this paper, we propose a class of false analog data injection attack that can misguide the system as if topology errors had occurred. By utilizing the measurement redundancy with respect to the state variables, the adversary who knows the system configuration is shown to be capable of computing the corresponding…

'Kianoosh G. Boroojeni' 'Kishwar Ahmed' 'Klaus Moessner'] The rapid development of mobile sensing technologies (e.g., smart devices embedded with various powerful sensors) has encouraged the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT). Although data reliability and accuracy are crucial in many sensor applications…

'Alex Parlato' 'Wei Sun' 'Xinwen Fu'] Abstract—KNX is one popular communication protocol for a building automation system (BAS). However, its lack of security makes it subject to a variety of attacks. We are the first to study the false data injection attack against a KNX based BAS. We design a man-in-the-middle (MITM)…

'Dario Paccagnan'] Security issues have gathered growing interest within the control systems community, as physical components and communication networks are increasingly vulnerable to cyber attacks. In this context, recent literature has studied increasingly sophisticated false data injection attacks, with the aim to…

The collusive false data injection attack (CFDIA) is a false data injection attack (FIDA), in which false data are injected in a coordinated manner into some adjacent pairs of captured nodes of an attacked wireless sensor network (WSN). As a result, the defense of WSN against a CFDIA is much more difficult than defense…

—Herein, design of false data injection attack on a distributed cyber-physical system is considered. A stochastic process with linear dynamics and Gaussian noise is measured by multiple agent nodes, each equipped with multiple sensors. The agent nodes form a multi-hop network among themselves. Each agent node computes…

—The rise of IoT has made possible the development of personalized services, like industrial services that often deal with massive amounts of data. However, as IoT grows, its threats are even greater. The false data injection (FDI) attack stands out as being one of the most harmful to data networks like IoT. The…

'Yafei Li'] In recent years, with the development of smart grid, the power systems and other energy systems are gradually forming integrated energy systems. The electric-thermal integrated energy system is a mature integrated energy system at present. The electric-thermal integrated energy system uses modern…

Prediction Authors: ['Zifan Zhang' 'Minghong Fang' 'Jiayuan Huang' 'Yuchen Liu'] Abstract—Federated Learning (FL) offers a distributed framework to train a global control model across multiple base stations without compromising the privacy of their local network data. This makes it ideal for applications like wireless…

'Mizanur Rahman'] Abstract— A modern vehicle contains many electronic control units (ECUs), which communicate with each other through the in-vehicle network to ensure vehicle safety and performance. Emerging Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) will have more ECUs and coupling between them due to the vast array of…

Computational methods should be accurate and robust for tasks in biology and medicine, especially when facing different types of attacks, defined as perturbations of benign data that can cause a significant drop in method performance. Therefore, there is a need for robust models that can defend attacks. In this…

Large language models (LLMs) now reach expert-level scores on medical licensing exams, encouraging the assumption that high scores imply safe medical judgment while patients increasingly use them for health advice. We show this assumption is fragile: when misleading context is injected into questions that LLMs…

The Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed various domains in our lives by enabling seamless communication and data exchange between interconnected devices, necessitating robust networking infrastructure. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of code injection attacks in IoT, focusing on the wireless domain.…

Federated Learning (FL) is gaining traction in various fields as it enables integrative data analysis without sharing sensitive data, such as in healthcare. However, the risk of data leakage caused by malicious attacks must be considered. In this study, we introduce a novel attack algorithm that relies on being able to…

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data is subject to strict access control due to its sensitive nature, motivating the use of synthetic data generation (SDG) for privacy-preserving data sharing. We present the first adversarial privacy attack that performs meaningfully above random guessing against…

Genome data is a subject of study for both biology and computer science since the start of Human Genome Project in 1990. Since then, genome sequencing for medical and social purposes becomes more and more available and affordable. Genome data can be shared on public websites or with service providers. However, this…
