Ultrasound Localization Microscopy (ULM) is an emerging technique that provides impressive super-resolved images of microvasculature, i.e., images with much better resolution than the conventional diffraction-limited ultrasound techniques and is already taking its first steps from preclinical to clinical applications.…

Medical ultrasound is a widely used diagnostic imaging technique for tissues and blood vessels. However, its spatial resolution is limited to a sub-millimeter scale. Ultrasound Localization Microscopy was recently introduced to overcome this limit and relies on subwavelength localization and tracking of microbubbles…

'Mickael Tanter'] In the last decade, Ultrafast ultrasound localisation microscopy has taken non-invasive deep vascular imaging down to the microscopic level. By imaging diluted suspensions of circulating microbubbles in the blood stream at kHz frame rate and localizing the center of their individual point spread…

Ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) is an emerging super-resolution imaging technique for deep tissue microvascular imaging. However, conventional localization methods are constrained by low microbubble (MB) concentration, as accurate localization requires a strict separation of MB point spread functions (PSFs).…

Ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) is an emerging vascular imaging technique that overcomes the resolution-penetration compromise of ultrasound imaging. Accurate and robust microbubble (MB) localization is essential for successful ULM. In this study, we present a deep learning (DL)- based localization technique…

Ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) demonstrates great potential for visualization of tissue microvasculature at depth with high spatial resolution. The success of ULM heavily depends on the robust localization of isolated microbubbles (MBs), which can be challenging in vivo especially within larger vessels where…

'Guofeng Zhang' 'Haijun Zhang' 'Bo Ding' 'Han Lin' 'Honghui Xue' 'Xiasheng Guo' 'Xiao-Yang Zhang' 'Jing-Ning Zhu' 'Dong Zhang' 'Juan Tu' 'Ning Gu'] Ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) is a novel imaging technique that overcomes the diffraction limit to achieve super-resolution imaging at the 10-μm scale. Despite…

The resolution of 3D Ultrasound Localization Microscopy (ULM) is determined by acquisition parameters such as frequency and transducer geometry but also by microbubble (MB) concentration, which is also linked to the total acquisition time needed to sample the vascular tree at different scales. In this study, we…

Functional ultrasound localization microscopy (fULM) enables brain-wide mapping of neural activity at micron-scale resolution but suffers from limited sensitivity due to sparse and noisy microbubble (MB) detections. Extending fULM into three dimensions (3D) further exacerbates these challenges because of low-frequency…

Contrast-Enhanced Ultra-Sound (CEUS) has become a viable method for non-invasive, dynamic visualization in medical diagnostics, yet Ultrasound Localization Microscopy (ULM) has enabled a revolutionary breakthrough by offering ten times higher resolution. To date, Delay-And-Sum (DAS) beamformers are used to render ULM…

'Hessel Wijkstra' 'Yonina C. Eldar' 'Massimo Mischi'] Ultrasound localization microscopy has enabled super-resolution vascular imaging through precise localization of individual ultrasound contrast agents (microbubbles) across numerous imaging frames. However, analysis of highdensity regions with significant overlaps…

Over the past two decades, super-resolution microscopy (SRM), which offered a significant improvement in resolution over conventional light microscopy, has become a powerful tool to visualize biological activities in both fixed and living cells. However, completely understanding biological processes requires studying…

—To overcome the half a wavelength resolution limitations of ultrasound imaging, microbubbles (MBs) have been utilized widely in the field. Conventional MB localization methods are limited whether by exhustive parameter tuning or considering a fixed Point Spread Function (PSF) for MBs. This questions their adaptability…

'Olivier Couture' 'Alexandre Aubry'] Transcranial ultrasound imaging is usually limited by skull-induced attenuation and high-order aberrations. By using contrast agents such as microbubbles in combination with ultrafast imaging, not only can the signal-to-noise ratio be improved, but super-resolution images down to…

'Guillermo Navarro-Patron' 'Javier Jimenez' 'Jordi Carrabina' 'Tomasz Wolny'] Infant meningitis remains a severe burden on global health, particularly for young infants. Traditional ultrasound imaging techniques are limited in spatial resolution to visualize white blood cells (WBCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)…

Visualization and tracking of microrobots in real-time pose key challenges for surgical microrobotic systems, as existing imaging modalities like MRI, CT, and X-ray are unable to monitor microscale items with real-time resolution. Ultrasound imaging-guided drug administration represents a significant advancement in…

Emulsifiers play an essential role in ensuring the physiochemical stability of food emulsions. In the case of mayonnaise, proteins contained in egg yolk act as emulsifiers. Here, we employed stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (STORM) to localize proteins at the oil/water droplet interface using fluorescently…
